You should always ask what is and isn’t included in your conveyancing quote and also ask whether your conveyance is being handled by a solicitor with experience in conveyancing.

In addition to the solicitor’s conveyancing fee there are a minimum number of searches which need to be undertaken to comply with the Queensland Law Society protocol.

These searches include Title and Plan, Council rates, Unity Water Special Meter read, Land Tax, Bankruptcy, Transport & Main Roads, Energex, Personal Property Security Register and Environmental Protection Agency.
Please be sure to check that any quote includes all of the searches above.

As well as search fees, you will also have pay Queensland Government transfer duty and registration fees on the transfer of the property.

  • Give notice in time to renew the lease
  • Understand your rights if you stay on without renewing the lease
  • Obtain the landlord’s consent if you wish to change the type of business you run
  • Understand the landlord’s right to end the lease.
